In 2013 after adopting a vegan lifestyle I was looking for a way for a way to be more involved in the vegan community and spreading the vegan message. After some thought I decided I wanted to do something creative, something I could get my family involved in, and something that would be allow me to travel. I decided on starting my own clothing line.
I played around with some designs trying to come up with a company name. I showed some friends the first design "Vegan Police" and her response was "YES! Vegans Rock!" and that was it, I had a company name.
Several months went by and I came up with a logo as well as a couple designs. We also found a screen printer that was willing to let me provide my own Organic Cotton shirts and that used eco-friendly water based inks. The first shirts were done just in time for the 1st ever Vegan Street Fair in Los Angeles California in March 2015. Even though we only had a couple of designs, with my daughters help we had our first successful vegan event.
Over the next several months we attended events in California, Texas, and Colorado and expanded the collection. It was always the plan to design and make our own apparel and buy the end of the year it became clear that we needed to do that as soon as possible. So in January 2016 we purchased all the commercial equipment we needed to more our production in house.
Since that time we design and create all of our apparel here in Southern California about 90 minutes from Los Angeles. We use 100% Organic Cotton, Organic Help and Organic Bamboo in many of our designs. Unfortunately some of our styles are not yet available from the our suppliers in Organic cotton, Hemp, and Bamboo but use high quality material from American Apparel, LA Apparel, Bella+Canvas, and Royal Apparel. We have also expanded across the United States. This year we will be doing over 30 Vegan events in 11 states and 3 countries.
